A fatal road crash along the Potiskum-Bauchi highway, about 20 kilometers from Potiskum town in Yobe State, left many passengers dead.

A Borno Express Toyota Bus collided with a Vectra Saloon Car transporting passengers from Jos to Maiduguri in the accident, which occurred on Sunday evening.

All of the Vectra’s passengers were said to have perished.

It was learned that four of the eighteen passengers on board the Borno Express, including the bus driver, were among those confirmed dead.

The bodies have been deposited at the Specialists’ Hospital Potiskum’s mortuary, while those who have been injured are being treated there.

Last month, Governor Mai Mala Buni ordered that all traffic laws in the state be strictly enforced in order to reduce the risk of road accidents.

Buni issued the order in response to an increase in the number of accidents on state highways, urging motorists to be more cautious on the road.

“We must enforce the laws in order to prevent these preventable accidents,” he added.
