Both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City were fighting for a place in the Champions League final earlier this year.
Both teams have won Ligue 1 and the Premier League on numerous occasions. This was the grail of all grails. After spending a lot of money on players and managers, this is the one they really want.

This summer, however, a true superstar arrived in Paris.
Messi, Lionel.
He doesn’t require an introduction. Pep Guardiola, City’s manager, is well-versed in him. They worked together at Barcelona for four years, enthralling every team in the sport with their mesmeric football and winning trophies for fun.
Last year, Guardiola tried to sign Messi, but Barca refused, despite a burofax from the player requesting to leave.
The LaLiga giants, on the other hand, were powerless to stop the 34-year-old from leaving. Instead of playing for City, he is in France with former pal Neymar and compatriot Mauricio Pochettino. Since then, Messi has made it clear that he wants to win the Champions League once more.

It could be a get-together of some sort. But, most importantly, the battle line will be drawn.
