At least twelve Nigerian soldiers and local vigilantes have been killed in Borno by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Terrorists planted improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on the road that a military convoy traveling from Marte to Maiduguri would pass through.

Soldiers who had been granted leave to leave the Marte unit were escorted by the motorcade.

According to PRNigeria, the troops were ambushed near Ala village, which is located between Marte and Dikwa town.

The terrorists hiding nearby opened fire as one of their vehicles collided with the IED.

The attack came on the same day that troops fought ISWAP at a military base in Borno’s Malam Fatori and Yobe’s Babangida community.
