On February 22, two of the criminals were apprehended after defrauding their victim by using her ATM.
Their confession, according to the Police Commissioner, led to the arrest of the other five accused.
He identified the two suspects as Mohammed Medugu and Usman Saidu, both of Maiduguri’s Bulumkutu Ward.
Samson David, Saminu Shehu-Turaki, Mohammed Sani, Emma Audu, and Felix Haruna are among the others.
The suspects belonged to a nine-man syndicate, according to the police commissioner.
According to him, on February 17, Medugu and Saidu conspired with two other people who are still at large to rob Fati Al-Fantami of her ATM card.
When Al-Fantami attempted to withdraw money from a commercial bank in Bulumkutu, they copied her PIN number.
“When the transaction was unable to be completed, the consumer returned home. The assailants pursued her and robbed her of her ATM card before fleeing on a tricycle.
“The suspects went to another ATM in the city and took N65,000 out of the victim’s account,” Umar said.
Meanwhile, the police Crack Squad pursued and apprehended the offenders based on coordinated intelligence.
