For the first time, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has spoken out about the problems with her marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko, stating that she is still devoted to protecting her mother, Rita Daniels, in the face of mounting criticism on social media.
On Wednesday, Daniels posted a video on Instagram in which she talked candidly about her marriage, her mother, and her kids. The controversy began with a viral video on October 18 and progressed to accusations of drug usage and the purported arrest of her family members.
Daniels talked about her family, her challenges, and the impact recent scandals have had on her mental health in an Instagram video.
“Explain to me why I can’t sleep while everyone else can. I will not shed a tear. That is not what you do in front of a camera. This indicates that I’m resilient and not sobbing.
The actress pledged to raise her sons with or without her husband’s help and begged Nigerians to stop disparaging her mother, whom she called her “pillar and protector.”
“Hey everyone, I ask you to stop making fun of my mother. The greatest thing that has ever occurred to me is her. She is my earthly god. My mother held it down for seven years. She attempted, but you all insulted her. She advised me. My siblings cautioned me. “Everyone did,” Daniels stated.
She claimed that, despite her family’s initial opposition, she married Nwoko because she was in love.
Everyone declined. My mom told me that my brothers were fighting and smashing bottles. I even said, “Arrest me!” when I walked to the police station. She stated, “My family doesn’t want me to marry the love of my life.”
Daniels emphasized that she had always provided for her family even before marriage, refuting long-standing accusations that her mother coerced her into the union for financial gain.
“Stop claiming that my marriage was motivated by money, everyone. We weren’t broke, so pardon me! How much money may a man offer a mother who is already supporting the family with a child? My mother trained all of her kids through me. She said, “God used me to settle her; I was a blessing to her.”
Daniels spoke fervently for her sons, Munir (born 2020) and Khalifa (born 2022), in the same video, promising to raise and protect them despite any marital difficulties.
“I’m going to defend my kids.” She said, “With or without your help, I’ll take them, train them, and raise them.”
The actress stated that she still respects her husband despite her passionate tone.
“I still love and respect him, and I did fall in love. That’s love: respect and care. I want Mona and Khalifa’s father’s name to stay strong, which is the only reason I’m not attacking you, Ned. She responded, “But they can take mine.”
