Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force’s (NPF) spokesperson and an Assignment Commissioner of Police, stated Wednesday that Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun is dedicated to strengthening the force’s institutional capacity to fulfill its constitutional duty.
Adejobi made this statement at a press conference regarding the fifth iteration of the senior police officer conference and retreat, which will take place in the historic and tranquil capital of Ogun State, Abeokuta, from February 24 to 26, 2025.
According to the Force Spokesperson, the conference is a component of the IGP’s continuous endeavor to change the force into a service-oriented, rule-of-law compliant, professionally competent, and amiable security organization that can assist the Federal Government’s agenda for national economic development and prosperity.

According to him, the conference will provide a forum for police strategic managers and carefully chosen policing specialists from both domestic and international locations to exchange ideas and conduct peer reviews on how to successfully implement community-based internal security management strategies.
He added that the conference serves as a forum for senior police managers nationwide to critically evaluate the force’s internal security performance and devise plans for enhancing service delivery and safeguarding our beloved nation’s internal security area. It brings together all senior officers from the rank of Commissioner of Police and higher.
Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, the President of INTERPOL, attended the event in its previous iteration. Given the crucial role and position of the Nigeria Police Force in international community security, the INTERPOL President stated in his keynote address that his organization wants to further deepen INTERPOL’s engagement with Nigeria.
The fifth edition, themed “Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing,” is set to take place in the historic and tranquil capital of Ogun State, Abeokuta, from Monday, February 24 to Wednesday, February 26.
“The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will be the Special Guest of Honor during the Opening Ceremony on February 24, 2024, at 10:00 am, to officially start the conference.
The Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, State Governors, the National Security Advisor, Lawmakers, Ministers, the Chief of Defense Staff, and other leaders of the nation’s security institutions are anticipated to attend the opening ceremony. Additionally, we anticipate several visitors from outside of Africa.
According to Adejobi, the theme of this fifth edition emphasizes how important an inclusive police strategy is for promoting both economic development and national security.
