The ‘Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Monumental Civic Centre’ was commissioned yesterday in the Ifako-Ijaye Local Council Development Area of Lagos State amid much fanfare.
Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, the outgoing chairman, unveiled the edifice, which serves as the new council secretariat, as part of his final duties in office. Two large event halls, an e-library, an ICT center, and a youth office are all located in the heart of the city.
Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was deemed deserving of the honor by the council members for his contributions to grassroots administration in Lagos State and the advancement of democracy in the country.
Oke explained that the massive structure in Idiagbon, Ifako, will solve the local government’s acute housing problems that have plagued it since its inception over thirty years ago.
Politicians, government officials, market women, and youths all attended the ceremony.
Oke described the Centre as a “jinx breaker,” emphasizing that its commissioning was a watershed moment in grassroots administration.

“This edifice, christened ‘Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Monumental Civic Centre,’ is named in recognition of unparalleled contributions of my guide, guardian, and mentor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), to the advancement of democracy and grassroots administration and development, not only in Lagos State, but also in Nigeria,” Oke added.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the House of Assembly were thanked for their cooperation and collaboration, according to Oke.
