The All Progressives Congress’ Bola Tinubu was declared the victor of the hotly contested election that took place on Saturday, February 25, by Professor Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission and returning officer for the 2023 presidential election, in the early hours of March 1.
Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party placed second and third, respectively, in a race where both of them triumphed in 12 different states, just like Tinubu, the winner-elect.

In accordance with INEC data, 93.5 million eligible voters registered to vote, but only 25.3 million actually showed up to cast a ballot.
Eighteen political parties fielded candidates for the nation’s top job and below is how they shared the 25.3 million valid votes in the election.
