Senator Rochas Okorocha has accused Imo state governor Hope Uzodinma of orchestrating a campaign to keep him out of the ruling All Progressives Party, APC.
Okorocha, in a statement signed by his media aide, Sam Onwuemeodo, on Tuesday evening, described Uzodinma as a “gatecrasher” to the APC, adding that he (Okorocha) cannot be pushed out of the party.
“Governor Hope Uzodinma cannot and will not blackmail Senator Rochas Okorocha out of the All Progressives Congress, APC,” the statement said in part. Last Monday, Governor Uzodinma was behind the fabricated story of Senator Rochas Okorocha defecting from the APC to the PDP.”
“He concocted the bogus story of Okorocha leaving the APC because the Party’s National Secretariat had established a reconciliation committee. And also because of Okorocha’s visit to the Party’s National Office, where he met with men and women who had given their all to make the APC the party to beat in Imo. And with members of the National Assembly who have been elected by the people.”
“Governor Uzodinma was never an APC member. He joined the APC after the Supreme Court named him governor.”
Okorocha stated that he took a significant “political risk” to form the APC in Imo, and that Mr. Uzodinma was attempting to “reap where he did not sow.” Before joining another party, he accused the governor of being “anti-people” and actively working to destroy the APC.
