President Bola Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, the National and State Assemblies, traditional leaders, and religious leaders have all been urged by the Northern Christian Youth Professionals, or NCYP, to reevaluate the decision to give Zaria exclusive access to four new federal institutions.
In a statement, the group’s chairman, Isaac Abrak, stated that it is asking for balanced development and equal distribution, making sure that no area in Kaduna State is left behind.
In a town that already had twelve federal institutions, the group bemoaned the addition of four more: the Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery, the Federal College of Education, the Federal Open University, and the Federal College of Legal Studies.
“The Northern Christian Youth Professionals, NCYP, urge the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to give the construction of a Federal Medical Center, FMC, in Southern Kaduna top priority,” the group stated. In addition to saving numerous lives, this important project will greatly improve healthcare delivery throughout the area.
Southern Kaduna, which includes 12 of the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Kaduna State and includes portions of Zone 2 and all of Zone 3, has every reason to host a Federal Medical Center, according to Abrak.
Despite making up 52.1% of the state’s population and 57% of its land area, it only has one federal institution: the Federal School of Statistics in Manchok.

In order to receive better medical care at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital or the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Shika, Zaria, those with serious medical ailments in Southern Kaduna currently have to travel over 300 kilometers.
By bringing cutting-edge healthcare closer to the people, the construction of an FMC in Southern Kaduna would reduce this crucial gap. Additionally, it will draw medical experts, increase the effectiveness of the area’s current public hospitals, and enhance healthcare delivery in general.
Additionally, he thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving a bill introduced by Senator Marshal Katung, who represents Kaduna South, that established the Federal University in Southern Kaduna, more precisely the Federal University of Applied Sciences Kachia.
“The decision is a major step toward advancing education in a region known for its strong base of educators and academics,” the chairman said.
