To combat climate change, the North East Governors Forum will promote small-scale irrigation farming.
Governor Babagana Zulum, the forum’s chairman, announced this at the ninth NEGF meeting in Yola on Saturday.
He said agriculture was the region’s mainstay and needed support.
Zulum said important stakeholders must be involved in an industrial development program to promote local resource development.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu for his efforts to bring peace and security to the area and nation.
In addition to poverty, unemployment, and defending lives and property, the region faces other difficulties too large to address alone.

I genuinely believe we can overcome these obstacles with Federal Government support,” he said.
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri said the meeting gave the region a viable development platform.
He noted that the region has seen several accomplishments and advancements in the forum’s four years.
