In his response, Mr Eno thanked God and the governor for recognizing him as capable of leading the state’s people.
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has finally put an end to months of speculation and permutations by announcing that Umo Eno, a member of his cabinet, will succeed him as governor in 2023.
Ekerete Udoh, the governor’s chief press secretary, revealed this in Uyo on Sunday.
Mr Udo said the governor made the announcement at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders meeting on Sunday evening at Government House Lodge in Uyo.
“Indeed, absolutely true. His Excellency announced Mr Umo Eno, Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, as the preferred candidate to succeed him at the PDP stakeholders’ meeting this evening,” said the chief press secretary. “After that, former Governor Victor Attah presented him to the PDP stakeholders.” So, yes, that is correct.”
In his response, Mr Eno thanked God and the governor for deeming him worthy of the difficult task of leading the state’s people.
