Government of Oyo has awarded the 76.7-kilometer Iseyin-Ogbomosho Road for N43.1 billion

The Oyo State Government has awarded a contract worth N43.1 billion for the construction of the 76.7-kilometer Iseyin-Fapote-Ogbomosho road.

The contract award was approved at the 14th State Executive Council meeting, which was presided over by Governor Seyi Makinde and held at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.

Professor Dahud Sangodoyin, the State Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, who was accompanied by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, told the press after the meeting that the project would be carried out through direct government payment and completed in 13 months.

Sangodoyin explained that the government wanted the project to start as soon as possible, so they would advance a payment of 30% of the project cost next week when the contractors are mobilized to site, followed by a payment of 20% in January, requiring them to complete nearly 75% of the work before requesting any other payment from the government.

He stated that Messrs Kopek Construction was awarded the first section of the road and Messrs Kremborg Construction was awarded the second section.

He stated that the two contractors would be mobilized as soon as the contract was awarded so that they could begin work.

Currently Active Road Projects
The Commissioner took advantage of the opportunity to discuss the various ongoing road projects across the state, emphasizing that the state government would not give up in its efforts to improve and improve the lives of the state’s residents.

Sangodoyin also stated that the government is working to ensure that no part of the state is overlooked when it comes to road development, promising that at least 95 percent of current projects will be completed by the end of 2022.
