Government of Anambra awards contracts for Onitsha roads, others

The Anambra State Executive Council has given Alitho Nigeria Limited permission to release N119 million for the development of Premier Road in Onitsha. Various companies were also chosen to build additional roads in Onitsha.

Preliminaries, contingencies, and 7.5% VAT totaling N8,911,125.45 are included in the contract, and completion is scheduled for four weeks after the mobilisation fee has been paid.

Sir Paul Nwosu, the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, revealed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to Nwosu, the action is a step towards realising the goal of turning Anambra State into “a liveable and prosperous megacity with the best road network,” as set forward by the state’s governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

He continued by saying that the release of N1.9 billion for the development of the Ukwuorji Awka – Umuenechi Village – Ifite Nibo – Isiagu Road with a 2.1 km spur to Zik Avenue was also approved by the state executive council.

He revealed that the contract was given to J. Quarison International Limited with a completion period of five (dry weather) months starting on the day the mobilisation fee was paid.

According to the release, “In accordance with the march towards realising Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s goal of transforming Anambra State into a livable, thriving megacity with the best road network.

 

The release of N119 million, inclusive of preliminaries, contingencies, and 7.5% VAT, in favour of Alitho Nig. Ltd. for the construction of Premier Road, Onitsha, has been authorised by the Anambra State Executive Council. Four weeks after the date the mobilisation money was paid was the completion date.

“ANSEC also authorised the disbursement of N1.9 billion, which represents the revised estimate of the total cost for building the Ukwuorji Awka-Umenechi Village-Ifite Nibo-Isiagu Road with a 2.1 km spur to Zik Avenue.

“The contract was given to J. Quarison International Limited with a five-month (dry weather) completion time from the date of the mobilisation fee payment.

“ANSEC equally emphasised to the renovation of Port Harcourt Street, Onitsha, at a cost of N1.8 billion.

The contract was given to FEROTEX Construction Company with a five-month completion window starting from the day the mobilisation fee was paid.

“The council awarded N430 million for Miss Elems Road in Onitsha’s rehabilitation. With a three-month completion window starting on the day the mobilisation fee was paid, the contract was given to Mashuchun International Ltd. There is no doubting that the Solution is present.
