The All Progressives Congress (APC) said on Friday in Abuja that the much-anticipated Unity List, resulting from extensive deliberations on a consensus to choose party leaders, would be available shortly.
The party also reiterated that consensus remained its preferred method of selecting its next set of leaders throughout the country.
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Chairman of the National Convention Media and Publicity Sub-committe, revealed this while answering questions from our reporter at the party’s World Press Conference held at its national secretariat on Friday.
Recent allegations that political appointees will be prevented from becoming delegates at Saturday’s convention were debunked.

“The unity list will be available today, based on what we have on the different areas,” he added. It will be turned in. If you’re talking about consensus, you’ll need a unity list, since that’s what it’s all about.
“If there is unanimity, you will have individuals who have agreed, candidates who have agreed, stakeholders who have agreed, and the constituency who has agreed, and that name would be accepted automatically.” And that is precisely what the unity list means.”
“Our delegates list are statutory delegates,” he responded when asked about political appointments being forbidden from voting at the convention. So, if you have a former president or a former senator as a political appointment, you already have automatic delegates.
“Let’s not mix the two merely because being an appointee doesn’t mean you’re no longer a delegate, since our delegates are clearly defined.” Former presidents of our party, as well as elected leaders, party officials, and others. I don’t believe anybody in any political party post is now a political appointment of the President, governors, or anyone else.

“So most of the list that we filed, if you’re talking about the ones that have submitted today, we don’t have commissioners, advisors, or all of them unless someone was a previous office this or former that.” In such scenario, just being an appointee does not preclude someone from serving as a delegate.”
