On Wednesday, November 15, the Court of Appeal in Lagos will render a decision regarding the appeal filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, and Abdulazeez Olajide Adediran, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, contesting the reelection of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The court informed the parties involved in the appeal that the verdict would be presented at 3 p.m.
The Lagos Governorship Election Petition Tribunal reportedly rejected the LP candidate’s attempt to overturn Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the 2023 governorship election.
The election tribunal rejected Rhodes-Vivour’s case, ruling that Sanwo-Olu was the state’s legitimately elected governor.
In an attempt to contest Sanwo-Olu’s election win on March 18, the Labour Party candidate went before the tribunal, requesting that it be revoked due to non-qualification and unethical behavior.
Additionally, he charged that the governor had broken the terms of the Electoral Act of 2022.
