Gombe state deputy governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau secures loan to fight erosion

Gombe State Deputy Governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau, has stated that the state government is thinking about taking a loan from the World Bank to address erosion problems at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Gombe. He told that a Presidential Visitation Panel led by Professor Kenneth Okiongbo, who had been in Gombe State within an assessment trip to the school yesterday, that although it is a federal establishment, the people of this nation are major benefactors of the faculty.

He received the presidential board on behalf of this state, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya. According to him, the intervention for the college wouldn’t be out of place, hence, it is to the benefit of the nation. The deputy governor said the state authorities had already intervened in the erosion management of the school via the diversion of some major structures at the state mega park which is quite near the school.

Jatau said the government was working assiduously to the fact and completion of their job on the erosion sites. He added that the government is constituted of many educationists, as such, it’s very sensitive to matters which has to do with the instructional development of the state. The deputy governor, therefore, called on the board, especially the school management, to assist the state-owned College of Education in Billiri, which can be in its tender phase, in a variety of facets of its development.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Presidential Panel, Professor Okiongbo, told the deputy governor they were in FCE (Tech) Gombe to evaluate the functioning of the faculty in the fields of governance, academic standard, physical infrastructure, finance and administration of the faculty. He called on the state authorities to do more interventions at the school in the areas of erosion control and road infrastructures, stating however that the faculty is well handled, as he gave kudos to its management.
