Ganduje Appoints Wike’s Ally, Tony Okocha, as APC Leader in Rivers

Chief Tony Okocha is the party’s leader in Rivers State, according to Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

Ganduje claims that the Rivers State APC leadership structure approved by the party’s national secretariat is the executive committee led by Okocha, a supporter of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.

During the inauguration of the party’s newly elected state executive committee on Saturday in Port Harcourt, Ganduje made this statement.

In addition to congratulating the recently elected members, the APC national chairman gave an explanation for the party’s choice to host the inauguration in Rivers State rather than at the APC National Headquarters in Abuja.

He underlined that the action represents the party’s attempt to ensure that there is no separation between the state and national leadership structures.

As a fundamental component of their duties, Ganduje urged the state executive committee to give internal democracy top priority.

He also emphasized how crucial it is to promote inclusivity and unity within the party at the state level.

Ganduje remarked that the APC has made great strides in the South-South geographical zone, which has historically been controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, pointing to its hold on the states of Cross River and Edo.

He added that while the party continues its regional expansion efforts, Rivers State is its next strategic target.
