The National Youth Service Corps has issued a call to action to all prospective corps members, institutions that produce corps members, and current corps members to report any violations of the scheme’s deployment and relocation standards.
This information was provided in a statement that was signed by Eddy Megwa, who is the Director of Press and Public Relations for the NYSC.
According to the statement, members of the corps were not required to pay any fees in order to participate in redeployment, mobilisation, or deployment in accordance with the scheme’s policies for deployment and relocation.
Therefore, the plan requested that corps members and their respective institutions report any violations of the policies to NYSC formations across the country, its National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, or any other security authorities, for immediate action.
The following is an excerpt from the statement: “The management of the National Youth Service Corps wishes to underline that Deployment and Relocation of Prospective Corps Members, as well as Corps Members, are carried out free of charge, and in compliance with the Deployment and Relocation regulations of the Scheme.”
“Therefore, the Relocation of Corps Members is carried out based on individual merit, in accordance with the policy that has been outlined.
“In addition, the mobilisation of Prospective Corps Members for national service does not incur any costs because Corps Producing Institutions are not responsible for making those payments.
“Any transgression of the foregoing policies shall be notified to the Heads of the nearest NYSC formations nationally, NYSC National Directorate Headquarters Abuja, and/or the security authorities for prompt action,” the NYSC says on its website.
