Former deputy chair alleges APC leaders can no longer reach Tinubu

Salihu Lukman, a former vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (North-West), bemoaned on Monday how President Bola Tinubu is growing more and more unapproachable to APC leaders and party members.

He claimed it would be counterproductive for the President to exclude loyalists and those who can call his attention to decisions that should be prioritized and alleged errors.

In a statement headlined “Resolving APC’s Progressive Retrogression,” which he released in Abuja on Monday, the APC chairman issued the warning.

“First, inaccessibility is the biggest issue many APC leaders have with President Tinubu’s government,” he stated. The presumption that everyone wishing to meet the President or those close to him will be pushing for an appointment may be due, at least in part, to the difficulty in handling pressure from those seeking political posts in government. Even while that might be the truth in many situations, such a reality shouldn’t lead to an indiscriminate wall.

“However, we hope that he will have the fortitude to listen to us when we call his attention to the decisions that should be his top priorities, rather than mistakes or perceived mistakes resulting from his decisions as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He recently instructed members of his cabinet to discuss the incorrect decisions made by their superiors. To assist him in “succeeding by all means necessary,” we are calling his attention to the importance of making specific judgments.

APC National Director of Publicity Bala Ibrahim responded to Lukman’s remarks by saying he thought it funny that someone like Lukman could be complaining about not being able to see the President.

Ibrahim remarked that even the chairman of a car park would no longer have the luxury of time to socialize with friends and family after securing an appointment, using that as an example of how busy a president might be.

“There is a huge demand and weight of responsibilities on Tinubu’s shoulder, even though he is the President of the Students’ Union because I was once back in school,” the man stated. The idea of accessibility is unthinkable when you are elected president, even of a road transport union or motor park. The President no longer seems to be the same person to you on a daily basis.

Presidents employ aides, coordinators, and support personnel for this reason. You can’t expect to see the President whenever you want, just like you can with your spouse.
