Ahmed Dangiwa, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, has announced that the federal government will sell 753 properties confiscated from Godwim Emefiele.
On Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) handed over residences seized from former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Emefiele to the federal government.
The 753 duplexes and other flats seized from Emefiele are located in the Federal Capital Territory’s Cadastral Zone.
In a statement issued Tuesday evening, Dangiwa stated that the recovered estate will be completed and made available to the Nigerian public in an open and accountable manner.
The Minister pledged that the resale would be done in a transparent and competitive manner.

He stated, “It is a key milestone in the government’s attempt to guarantee that recovered assets are not discarded but are converted into productive infrastructure that directly benefits Nigerians. As the next phase, we will undertake a thorough integrity and structural assessment of all buildings and associated infrastructure to ensure their safety and appropriateness for habitation. We will also complete all outstanding infrastructure, such as roads, drainage systems, and other critical facilities, to ensure that the estate is completely functional.
“In addition, a standardized dwelling design framework will be created to assure architectural consistency and provide assistance to prospective allottees.
“Finally, the housing units will be available for purchase through a transparent and competitive process that will be widely advertised and managed through the Renewed Hope Portal.”
“Together with the EFCC, we will work to show that the fight against corruption can deliver real benefits—turning looted assets into livable homes for Nigerians.”
