FG Takes Delivery Of Final Batch Of Tucano Jets

The final batch of the 12 A-29 Super Tucano fighter jets expected from the United States has been delivered, according to the Federal Government.

Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, revealed this on Monday during an appearance on TV Continental’s “This Morning,” a phone-in show.

“We’ve received all 12 Super Tucano fighter jets.” All 12 were present this morning and have been deployed to the north-east.

“It’s clear that the Tucano jets are a game changer.”

With the military’s recent notable successes in the fight against insecurity, the minister said he was amused by a report on Monday that the Nigerian Air Force paid N20 million to bribe bandits so they wouldn’t shoot down the president’s plane.

“Fortunately, the Air Force debunked this right away because it reveals their ignorance.”

“There are about 150 bandit camps between Zamfara, Katsina, parts of Kaduna, and Niger states. So, to whom was the money given?

He also stated that the recommended conditions for lifting the Twitter suspension would apply to all Over-The-Top and other social media platforms in Nigeria.

The minister, who did not reveal the ministerial negotiation team’s recommendations for engaging with Twitter about the suspension, said the report would be sent to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The team’s leader, Mohammed, insisted, however, that the interactions with the microblogging and social media platform had been positive and fruitful.

“All I can say is that the recommendations we’re going to make will apply not only to Twitter, but to all OTTs and other social media platforms in Nigeria as well.”

“We’re dealing with Twitter today; we don’t want to be dealing with Facebook tomorrow and Instagram the following day.” Our recommendations will be extremely thorough.

“You may recall that during the 61st Independence Day celebrations, President Buhari stated that Twitter would return to Nigeria as soon as the government’s conditions were met.

“Last night, the ministerial team met under my chairmanship to discuss the current situation.

“I’d like to point out that we should wait for the committee’s official reports to be delivered to the president, but things are looking up.”

“After we submit our reports and recommendations to the president, I’ll be ready to say what we agreed on, what we’ve accomplished, and what we haven’t,” he said.

According to NAN, Twitter wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari seeking engagement over the indefinite suspension of its operations in Nigeria due to activities that could jeopardize the country’s corporate existence.
