For constructing on an unapproved plot of land, the Federal Capital Territory Administration on Monday demolished a multimillion-naira duplex at Plot 226 Cadastral Zone, A02 Wuse 1, Wuse Zone 6 District.
The building was allegedly once owned by the late Alake of Egba Land, Oba Oye Lipede, according to Mukhtar Galadima, Director of the Department of Development Control, who was speaking to journalists in Abuja on Monday. However, Ibrahim Kamba and Ademu Teku claimed ownership and built the duplex despite numerous warnings.
Given the various claims made by the parties, he noted that his team had to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the original owner of the land plot. He added that the FCTA will not take any defaulting developer’s status into consideration once development rules and regulations have been broken.
Galadima stated, “We demolished the duplex because someone built on someone else’s property without a valid title and building plan approval. We had to take down the building because an investigation showed that the developer is not the plot owner.

“Because we had to adhere to all the procedures, we allowed the building to reach this point before demolishing it. He received all the notices to stop working, but because he was a recalcitrant developer, he didn’t pay attention to them.
“After conducting our investigation, we determined who the original allottee was, so we must take it away. To determine the next course of action against the developer, we will consult the legal department.
