Fani-Kayode identifies the biggest mistake the APC can make

Former Nigerian Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode says the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is making the “worst mistake” by removing Governor Mala Mai Buni of Yobe State as its caretaker national chairman.

According to Fani-Kayode, APC’s Mai Buni is not being given due respect, as he stated in a tweet on his verified handle on Saturday.

As a result, ‘FFK’ urges APC leaders to keep Mai Buni as the party’s caretaker chairman.

Sati Bulama, a concerned APC member from Biu, Borno State, recently penned an article in which he stated that by continuing with its congresses under the leadership of Governor Mai Buni as acting National Chairman, the APC risks “losing everything” because continuing to recognize the Buni-led committee “is tantamount to putting all its eggs in one basket in a delicate race that requires tact and cauterization.”

The APC’s Caretaker ExtraOrdinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) tentatively scheduled Local Government Congresses for the first week of September 2021.

Mai Buni deserves nothing but respect from Fani-Kayode, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, for how he has paddled the ship of the ruling APC since at least June 2020.

“It astounds me that the National Chairman of a political party that has attracted three governors from the ranks of the opposition, as well as Senators, House of Representative members, Board of Trade members, former ministers, and other notables, all in one year, is being undermined by disgruntled elements within his own party.

“The most serious mistake @OfficialAPCNg can make is to remove Gov. Mala Mai Buni as its leader.

“I say this because he has done more for the ruling party’s credibility and strength than any other National Chairman since its inception.

“Aside from being a formidable intellectual, a man of his word, and a true gentleman, he is also a moderate, civilised, cerebal, fair-minded, and focused individual for whom I have enormous respect.

Fani-Kayode wrote, “I wish him well.”
