One of the many surprises that are still to come, according to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria named Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, is a memo that was leaked from the Lagos State Government on the secret mass burial of 103 victims of the October 2020 EndSARS protest.

This was discussed by Adegboruwa during an interview that took place on Saturday on the program Law Weekly that is broadcast on Channels Television.

It is important to keep in mind that Adegboruwa served as a member of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for Victims of SARS-Related Abuses and Other Matters, which was led by Justice Doris Okuwobi.

According to him, there is not a single person in Nigeria who could credibly claim that they are unaware that there was a tragedy on the evening of October 20, 2020.

He stated, “The leaked memo from the Ministry of Health of Lagos State is one of the many surprises that people will still see in the course of time so long as the government has not come to terms with the reality of the events that took place on October 20th, 2020.” He was referring to the fact that the government has not yet come to terms with the reality of the events that took place on October 20th, 2020.

Youths had gathered at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos, Nigeria, on the evening of October 20, 2020, to protest police brutality and extrajudicial killings. Soldiers stormed the area during the night on that date.

Adegboruwa, on the other hand, stated that “Maybe the challenge would be the quantum or the number of such fatalities.”

To say, however, that there were no deaths and that there was no blood spilled in any way, shape, or form as a result in particular of gunshots by members of the Nigerian Army is to do a disservice to the souls of those people who are affected. To say such a thing would be to do a disservice to the souls of those people who are affected.

The controversial event sparked outrage and criticism all over the world, including from Amnesty International and other human rights organizations.

Outrage was sparked when it was discovered that the government of Lagos State had given its approval to spend N61,285,000 on the mass burial of 103 people who had been identified as victims of the 2020 EndSARS outbreak. The memo was addressed to the Lagos State Ministry of Health.

The steps that need to be taken in order to process funds after they have been approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu were detailed in a memo dated July 19, 2023.

However, they insisted that the bodies were not from the Lekki toll gate and that they were instead collected by the Lagos State Environmental Health Unit (SEHMU) from locations such as Fagba, Ketu, Ikorodu, Orile, Ajegunle, Abule-Egba, Ikeja, Ojota, Ekoro, Ogba, Isolo, and Ajah.
