The Jigawa State Government has announced a relaxation of the curfew in eight local government areas.
This was contained in a statement signed by the state Commissioner of Information, Honorable Sagir Musa Ahmed, and issued to TVN on Saturday.
The statement noted that the state government has also lifted the curfew in 19 other LGAs following a review of the current security situation in the area.
According to the statement, “The State Joint Security Committee, chaired by Governor Malam Umar Namadi, made the decision after reviewing reports from security agencies across the state.”
The curfew for Babura, Birnin Kudu, Dutse, Gumel, Hadejia, Kazaure, Kiyawa, and Roni will now be from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m., pending further improvement in the security situation.
The committee commended the residents of the 19 LGAs where the curfew was lifted for their patriotism and respect for authorities.
Governor Malam Umar Namadi expressed gratitude to the people of Jigawa State for their patience and understanding during the trial period and appealed for continued support and prayers for peace and stability in the state and Nigeria.
