Electoral Act: Stop Blackmail Buhar, Allow Him To Do His Job – Uzodinma Blasts Nigerians

Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State, has warned Nigerians against pressuring President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the Electoral Act Amendment Bill into law.

Buhari, according to Uzodinma, has the constitutional authority to study the bill and address areas where he is uncomfortable.

The Governor of Imo State, speaking to journalists in Owerri, urged Nigerians to let the President do his job.

“I don’t understand the fear and propaganda of attempting to compel or blackmail the President into signing the Electoral Act without first ensuring that he studies it as required by the Constitution.”

“He has the mandate of all of us; over 200 million Nigerians, to study the act and address any issues that he believes are not in the best interests of the people.”

“It’s not the best thing, all these social clubs and anxiety here and there.” He stated, “I believe we should allow the President to do his job.”

After the Senate sent it to him, Buhari has yet to sign the Electoral Act Amendment Bill into law.

Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, had predicted that the President would sign the bill on Tuesday or Wednesday, but he didn’t.

Buhari, on the other hand, is expected to sign the bill on Friday, according to reports.

During the delay, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to prolong Buhari’s term.

The PDP claimed that Buhari’s delay in signing the bill into law was due to his desire to extend his term.
