The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is allegedly under pressure to rig the results by some governors who were elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, which is currently in power.

The accusation was made in a statement on Sunday night by the party’s national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

Aminu Bello Masari, Nasir el-Rufai, Abdullahi Ganduje, and Bello Matawalle, the governors of Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, and Zamfara states, respectively, are allegedly pressuring INEC officials to change the results of Saturday’s presidential election, according to reports in the public, according to Debo.

The statement reads partly, “These desperate APC governors are allegedly pressuring and blackmailing INEC officials to manipulate the results and transfer massive votes validly cast for the PDP and its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar to the rejected APC and its Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Our Party has been informed that this nefarious scheme by the APC governors is responsible for the stalling of collation of election results in Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Zamfara and other APC States where the Presidential Candidate of the APC is alleged to have released over N11 billion per State to rig the election in his favour.
“The PDP demands in the strongest terms that Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of INEC, issue a warning to the Commission’s officers in the states of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, and Zamfara not to tamper with the election results as reported at the Polling Units. The immediate transmission of the results to the INEC Server should also be ordered by the INEC Chairman.

The APC governors must respect the will of the people as expressed through voting because Nigerians will vehemently oppose anything to the contrary.
