Ekiti Speaker: Tinubu’s victory has consolidated democracy in Nigeria

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the winner of the February 25 presidential election, was congratulated by the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olubunmi Adelugba.

Adelugba characterized the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate’s victory as “historic and remarkable in the nation’s political history” and a reward for his perseverance as a democrat and a supporter of the common man.

The Speaker said in response to Tinubu being announced as the winner of the presidential election in a statement by her Special Adviser for Media, Odunayo Ogunmola, that the President-elect has a mandate from all of Nigeria, demonstrating his acceptance by the millions of electors who supported him.

She praised the Ekiti State electorate for contributing to Tinubu’s victory through their votes and noted that their decision to remain loyal to the APC gives the state a fantastic opportunity to profit from the Tinubu presidency and the benefits it is bringing to the table.

She pointed out that Tinubu’s election as Nigeria’s next president has strengthened democracy there and increased public confidence in the electoral process as the best way to select representatives and leaders without using undemocratic tactics.

When Tinubu assumes office on May 29, the Speaker predicted that his vision for a new Nigeria, as outlined in his manifesto dubbed “Renewed Hope,” would result in a dramatic improvement in both the nation’s fortunes and the standard of living of its people.

According to her, the election of Tinubu as the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s new president has demonstrated that the APC is the most well-liked, powerful, and appealing party to voters because it has won the presidency three times in a row, in 2015, 2019 and 2023.

According to her, Tinubu’s election to the presidency has heralded the beginning of a new era in which Nigerians will benefit from his intellect, experience, pedigree, competence, and Midas touch, qualities for which he is renowned.

“The victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his subsequent declaration as the President-elect has solidified democracy in our nation and increased the electorate’s confidence in the ballot box as the most effective method of selecting their leaders and representatives in government.

“The election of Asiwaju Tinubu ushers in a new era in the history of Nigeria and in the lives of its people, ushering in a quest for effective government led by a visionary and a well-known team player who never lets them down.

“Asiwaju is the best candidate for the position, and I applaud Nigerians for defying all expectations to choose him to be the guardian of their mandate. He had demonstrated his mettle with a stellar performance while serving as governor of Lagos, where he laid the groundwork for what is now Africa’s fifth-largest economy, she said.

The Speaker prayed to God to give the incoming president the wisdom, knowledge, and good health necessary for him to fulfill his duties as president-elect in a way that meets Nigerians’ expectations for the ensuing years.
