Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested a content creator, Muhammed Kabir Sa’ad, over alleged abuse of the Nigerian currency.
Sa’ad, known on TikTok and Instagram as @youngcee0066, had posted a video showing himself spraying naira notes on the ground, stepping on them, and taunting the EFCC in Hausa, daring the anti-graft agency to arrest him if they could.
In a statement issued on Monday by the EFCC spokesperson, the Commission confirmed the arrest, stating that Sa’ad was apprehended through surveillance operations in the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna State.
He has since been taken into custody at the EFCC’s Kaduna office for further interrogation.
The agency stated that the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the EFCC also confirmed the arrest of controversial social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), following multiple petitions from members of the public.
According to reports, Otse was picked up on Friday, May 2, 2025, after visiting a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) branch alongside his mother to lodge a complaint about alleged unauthorized deductions from her account.
EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, told BBC News Pidgin on Monday that the arrest was based on several complaints lodged by different individuals, and not necessarily related to the GTBank incident.
“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,” Oyewale stated.
He added that Otse would be granted bail upon meeting stipulated conditions, and would subsequently be arraigned in court.
“We will release him when he meets the bail conditions and we will take the case to court as soon as possible; we are law-abiding,” Oyewale said.
