The value of education has been emphasized by Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, who has stated that those who are well-read are more resilient than those who rely on force to survive.

The governor made this statement yesterday while attending the inauguration of Minaret University in Ikirun as a special guest of honor and the investiture of Prof. Abdullah Abdur-Rahman, the institution’s first vice chairman.

Adeleke claimed that Osun State, under his leadership, is carrying on the heritage of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who ensured an engaged populace prepared to oppose oppression, lawlessness, and impunity.

“Osun State will continue to advance in scholarship and good governance with the Minaret and other upcoming private institutions as well as both existing old colleges and universities,” the governor added, praising the Athemadiyya Muslim community, the institution’s originator. Both domestically and abroad, our sons and daughters will carry on the tradition of making the state proud. The clock of progress will continue to run in our favor, thus Osun State will never go back.

The late Bola Ige administration’s free education policy increased the first republic’s mileage. To ensure an engaged populace prepared and equipped to oppose oppression, impunity, and lawlessness, that heritage was expanded upon in the new Osun State.

“An informed public cannot be tricked; they are aware of the realities of administration. Fake news doesn’t effect them because they have facts based on their confirmed judgment. They hate leaders who are anti-people; they admire good leaders. The informed populace evaluates their leaders on a daily basis; they can distinguish between those who are simply serving the state and those who are lying.

According to Azeez Alatoye, the chancellor of Minaret University, the institution was founded at a time when Nigeria is facing significant social, economic, and ethical issues. He also stated that the university is well-positioned to address these issues through high-quality instruction, pertinent research, innovation, and community involvement.

Alatoye stated that courses in data science, information technology, computer science, cyber security, accounting, economics, business administration, marketing, logistics, and supply chain management had been added to the university’s academic offerings.

“Minaret University was envisaged not just as another educational institution, but as a citadel of excellence, firmly anchored on knowledge, discipline, moral uprightness, and service to humanity, values for which the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at is globally known,” he said.

The importance of colleges has never been greater at a time when our country is facing significant social, economic, and moral issues. The strategic location of Minaret University allows it to

Use innovative approaches, pertinent research, high-quality instruction, and community involvement to address these issues. We are dedicated to following international best practices while also being extremely sensitive to local and national development concerns.

Speaking to the university’s founding students, the chancellor exhorted them to value discipline, strive for excellence, and influence the school’s culture.

Our pioneer students are the stewards of history. It is your honorable duty to establish guidelines and mold this outstanding organization’s culture. Adopt discipline, strive for greatness, and preserve the principles that Minaret University was established on,” Alatoye continued.

Speaking following his investiture, Prof. Abdullah Abdur-Rahman, the institution’s vice chancellor, stated that the goal is to make the university a premier tertiary institution for the intellectual and human resource development of sustainable socio-economic development on a regional, national, and worldwide scale. He also added, “I envision a university that is entrepreneurial, inclusive, and globally competitive.”

While urging collaboration between the university’s administration, faculty, students, and other stakeholders, the VC underlined his dedication to guiding Minaret University toward excellence.

“I am aware that no one person has the power to decide a university’s success. With collaboration, transparent management, and democratic leadership, we are well-positioned to make every effort to elevate Minaret University to a position of distinction. The university administration, employees, students, and other stakeholders must work together in harmony and with all hands on deck.
