Mr Kenneth Imansuagbon, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo, has branded those vying for the presidential ticket in 2023 as enemies of the country.
This claim was made by Imasuangbon in a statement released to the press on Thursday in Benin.
He stated that the country was in a critical situation that necessitated immediate action.
“Nigerians must begin to think of a presidential candidate who can solve the challenges confronting the country, regardless of the person’s geopolitical zone,” he says.
“A candidate with merit, intellectual capabilities, and exposure to solve our problems should be our primary concern.”
He claimed that the best option for the PDP was not to push for zoning, but rather to allow all aspirants to run for the party’s ticket, allowing “the most popular and acceptable candidate to emerge.”
He insisted that the PDP never zoned the presidential ticket for 2019 to the north, and that no southerner was ever asked not to run.
“The country’s current state is chaotic and concerning. We shouldn’t be thinking about zoning right now.
“We should be considering who can best serve the Almajiri on the streets, the farmers, secure the country, and help the economy grow.” “The person who can fix our roads, get our schools up and running, and give us value as Nigerians.”
“Who will be the Nigerian after President Muhammadu Buhari who will have the courage to call a spade a spade, heal the country’s wounds, and bring the country together?”
“A well-traveled Nigerian who won’t have any complications in Washington.” Who is this Nigerian who has worked in both the private and public sectors? The person who knows exactly what to do right away.
“When people talk about zoning, it makes me uncomfortable because we are in an emergency situation that necessitates emergency solutions.” Look at our hospitals; I was on the verge of dying from malaria because the drugs I was given were phony.
“It is not the turn of the South when it comes to zoning.” If the ticket is for the PDP, it should be for the North.

“Jonathan served for six years, Obasanjo for eight years, Yar Adua for two years, and Buhari for eight.” This is not the time to test the waters.
“With the support of the Northern presidential candidate, we can win and save our country.” In the interests of fairness and equity, if the south has completed 14 of the 16 tasks, the north should be the next in line for the presidency.
“We’re on the verge of a major crisis in terms of job creation, security, and the economy.” Someone who has been tried and true is required.
“The best way for our party to deal with agitation is to open it up and let the best candidate emerge.” This will make room for a candidate to emerge who can heal the wounds. We must reassemble the country.
“Those who want zoning don’t like Nigeria.” We need to put less emphasis on zoning and instead focus on merit, intellectual ability, and exposure. He stated, “Nigeria is bigger than zoning, it is bigger than any political party.”
