The state governor, Monday Okpebholo, has been cautioned by the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to claim credit for Temboga Road’s construction and other projects started and finished under his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.

Chris Nehikhare, the State Caretaker Committee’s publicity secretary, released a statement from the party with the warning.

According to Nehikhare, Okpebholo’s assertions that the 7.5 kilometer Temboga Road and other projects would be flagged off were false and deceptive because the road had already been built during the Obaseki-led administration.

He advised the governor to stop what he called bold attempts to rewrite Obaseki’s government’s accomplishments and instead concentrate on fulfilling his campaign pledges by starting projects that align with his administration’s goals for the state.

It is regrettable that the governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his administration got off to a terrible start by misleading the people of Edo State with fictitious claims of starting projects that his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki’s, had already finished.

The 7.5-kilometer Temboga Road is one such project that was started and built by the government led by Godwin Obaseki. This is completely absurd and unacceptable, and we implore the governor-elect and his administration to immediately stop engaging in such reprehensible behavior.

“Edo people are worthy of more than dishonesty and deceit. We urge Senator Okpebholo to focus on fulfilling his campaign pledges to the Edo people by starting and carrying out his own projects that complement his administration’s vision for Edo State, if they have any plans or developmental agenda for the state, instead of pursuing these bold schemes to rewrite the performance records of Governor Obaseki’s administration,” he said.
