After the twin crises of running out of fresh naira notes and fuel, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde deployed free Omituntun buses to help residents move across the state.
This was said in a statement released on Saturday by Mr. Taiwo Adisa, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary.
He stated that in order to reduce people’s suffering, more routes inside the state would receive free deployment of the Omituntun Mass Transit Buses.
The governor declared that his government was prepared to take all necessary action to lessen the suffering of the general populace.
Makinde, on the other hand, disapproved of the use of violent protests by certain Ibadan citizens on Friday.
The government would not support any use of violence, he added, adding that using violence would lead to additional issues even though residents were free to express their opinions in a peaceful manner.
To prevent any loss of law and order, the governor has placed all state-run security organizations on high alert.
In the next general elections, he urged the populace to use their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to elect a responsible administration.
The governor also mentioned that the state was collaborating with local government chairmen to immediately offer palliatives for those who were vulnerable.
He claims that this is done to lessen the difficulties that the simultaneous shortage of new naira notes and petrol have caused them.
He advised all law-abiding citizens and state residents to carry out their legal activities in a peaceful manner.
Violence won’t help us solve our problems; rather, it will only make them worse.
In a few weeks, we will have another chance to steer this nation in a different direction. Use your PVC instead of using force.
“We must not permit elements inside us to use peaceful demonstrations to further their own objectives or commit atrocities.
I kindly request that all law-abiding people and state residents carry out their legal obligations.
“All of our security services are on high alert, so the state’s peaceful citizens shouldn’t be concerned.
We have the chance to end the oppressive system once more, and this time it’s through the ballot.
As we work to lessen the difficulties, I ask everyone to maintain their composure for the time being, Makinde added.
