A truck driver and his assistant escaped death when their vehicle tumbled along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Tuesday.
The accident, according to the Commandant of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Seni Ogunyemi, occurred at about 7 am on Tuesday.
Ogunyemi identified the vehicle as a MACK truck (White and Green) with number plate KTU 175 YH.
He stressed that an eyewitness account indicated that the vehicle turn-table had fallen off when it fell to a bad portion of the road.
Ogunyemi stated, “There is a lone minor RTA at Lakatabu inbound Itori, Abkeokuta-Lagos Expressway.
“Two male adults were involved and fortunately, there was no injury or fatalities.
“According to the driver, the truck’s turntable shifted from its body and fell due to the bad portion of the road.”
He noted that though the incident partially affected traffic flow in the area, the intervention of TRACE operatives and police brought the situation under control.
According to Metro reported on Tuesday that no fewer than four persons lost their lives in four crashes that occurred in different parts of Lagos and Ogun State on Monday.
The accident, according to different statements from Ogunyemi, and the spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Taofiq, also left seven persons with varying degrees of injuries.
