Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, paid a surprise visit to the Bayelsa Queens, the state-owned female football team, to encourage the players.

The governor, who was not impressed with the state of the facilities, ordered the players to be relocated from the camp to a more suitable location until a permanent camp could be established.

The state government, according to Diri, will take steps to provide a suitable permanent home for Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens.

The governor also ordered that the necessary steps be taken to ensure that the female team’s bus is released as soon as possible.
Even after speaking with the supplier, he was surprised that the bus had not yet been released to the team.

The governor assured the players that the bus would arrive the next day and requested that the Finance Commissioner ensure that the directive was followed.

He stated that the government would continue to support the teams in order for them to succeed and that they should strive for first place in the competitions they were competing in.
