To protest the alleged financial inducement of the state election petition tribunal, hundreds of youths besieged the state government building in Kano on Monday.

Following Justice Flora Azinge’s revelation of lawyers’ schemes to hinder the administration of justice via money inducement, the protest occurred immediately after Usuani Gumel, the commissioner of police, outlawed protests by political parties and their followers.

All kinds of street protests are hereby outlawed throughout the state, Mr. Gumel declared, “in light of the confirmatory intelligence products at this police command’s disposal.”

Therefore, the commissioner advised supporters of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to refrain from engaging in any type of protest activity without first receiving permission from the police.

However, the teenagers violated the police order and entered the government building while holding a variety of banners. “Gandollar, stop destroying the name of Tinubu,” read one of them.

Online videos show the young people chanting “No to corruption,” “No to injustice,” and “No to manipulation” as they demonstrated.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf spoke to the youngsters and praised them for the nonviolent protest, promising to bring their complaints to President Bola Tinubu.
