The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Francis Sheriff Oborevwori the winner of the March 18, 2023, governorship election. The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Delta State has accepted the ruling of the Supreme Court.
This was said in a statement that Elder Omeni Sobotie, the APC Chairman in Delta State, signed.
Oborevwori was likewise praised by the APC on his legal triumph.
The APC claims, “Let us be clear. As the principal opposition party in Delta State, the APC will continue to lead by example and engage the government responsibly and firmly to ensure that its policies uphold the rule of law, equity, and good governance for the benefit of our people.
“We will take all necessary steps to eliminate arbitrary decision-making in government and safeguard the rights of our people.
“In a rapid response to the Supreme Court’s ruling, our governor’s running mate, Senator Ovie Omo Agege, of Obarisi, released a press release upholding the decision, demonstrating excellent leadership through candor and humility.
Additionally, he wished His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori well and commendably complimented him on the court ruling. As a party, we fully support this bold move toward democratic government.
“We are all owners of Delta State. To create it for the benefit of current and future generations, we must all collaborate. In view of the aforementioned, we urge all Deltans to make every effort to maintain our beloved state’s peace, security, and unity.
“His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has our profound gratitude for his unwavering support, unwavering guidance, and demonstrated dedication to the rule of law and the concept of separation of powers.
We owe a great deal of gratitude to the National Working Committee and His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of our esteemed party, for their steadfast leadership.
“We are happy of the work that our deputy president of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo Agege, has done to organize the Delta electorate and provide resounding support for our party as our candidate for governor.
“His inspiring ability to unite people, his positive fighting attitude, and other strong leadership qualities enabled our party to accomplish a great deal in Delta State in a short amount of time. We want God to give him and his running mate, the Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi, greater virtue so they can lead with resourcefulness on all fronts.
“We appreciate all that each and every leader, member, and supporter of our wonderful party has done to strengthen democracy in our state. We are grateful for your support. Thank you very much.
