COVID 19: Turkur Buratai Golf Club donates Palliatives to 150 Caddies, families in Abuja

The Lt. Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai (TYB) International Golf Club in conjunction with the Goodluck Ebele International Golf Club on Saturday 18th April 2020, presented 10 kilogram bag of rice each and other foodstuff among other palliatives to 150 Caddies from both clubs to cushion the negative effects of the COVID 19 pandemic lockdown on their families.

Chairman of the TYB International Golf Club, who is also the Chief of Policy and Plans, Army, Lt. Gen Lamidi Adeosun while speaking at the ceremony, stated that the symbolic presentation was to show that members of both Golf Clubs who are mostly senior officers of the military, care “in our own little way” for the plights of our barracks children and youths.

He said, “One of the vision of the TYB Golf Club and it’s patron is the positive engagement of Barracks boys and youths from nearby communities, to mentor them and ensure they turn out to be better citizens in future. It is also to assist them attain sporting heights in future”.

Disclosing that the Covid 19 lockdown which commenced since 28 March 2020 has impacted negatively on the Caddies and their families, Gen Adeosun said, “That is why members from both clubs contributed funds get these palliatives for 150 Caddies who e the beneficiaries.

In his welcome address, Chairman of Palliative Committee, Brigadier General SS Jiya said members of both Golf Clubs felt it was wise to support the less privilege particularly young barracks boys and youths who fend for themselves and support their families through being Caddies to Golfers.

Noting that, “A lot of the children Caddies at the palliative presentation were are our children and children of soldiers, he expressed hope that the presentations will alleviate the effect of the lockdown which has prevented them from what they love to do best.

In his closing remarks, Captain of the TYB International Golf Club, Brigadier General Adekunle Ariyibi commended members of both Golf Clubs for the donations and contributions to the worthy cause of alleviating effects of Covid 19 lockdown among barrack youths and families.

He thanked the Chairman of the club, Lt. General LO Adeosun for personally gracing the occasion despite his tight schedule.

He also commanded members of the Goodluck Ebele Golf Club who participated in the ceremony led by Air Commodore Adeleke retired.
