The Borno State coronavirus (COVID-19) response team; has set condition for relax of 14-day lock down.
According to response team, relax of the lock down was to enable residents replenish their food supplies and basic needs of life.
The relaxation which; commences today (Monday); is for banks and markets to be open to public from 8am to 5pm.
While announcing lock down relax Sunday in Maiduguri, the COVID-19 response team Secretary, Dr. Sahihu Kwayabura, who doubles as Health Commissioner disclosed that all traders and customers must wear their face masks during the nine-hour relax.
He said at each entry point of Maiduguri Monday Market (MMM), Budum, Abaganaram and Gambouru markets; there will be hand washing points at markets’ gates for traders and customer wash their hands.
According to him, all traders and customers must wash their hands before and after leaving the markets.
He warned that the relaxation is not for people to congregate in markets and communities, but maintain their social distancing; with personal hygiene during the lock down period.
His words: “This is an opportunity for residents to replenish their food supplies tomorrow (Monday) and next Thursday.
“Traders and customers, are not allowed to go into markers without wearing their face masks.
He further added that in the absence of masks, women could also use their veils and scarfs,”
The Borno State Health Commissioner, warning that there will be no intercity and state commuting or travels.
