The Federal High Court in Lagos State on Tuesday approved bail for the Central Bank of Nigeria’s suspended Governor, Godwin Emefiele, in the amount of N20 million with one surety in the same amount.
He pleaded not guilty to the two counts involving the alleged illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and was given bail as a result.
The Federal Ministry of Justice has filed two counts of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition against Emefiele before the sitting court, Justice Nicholas Oweibo.
He is being sued by the ministry of justice for illegally owning a single-barrelled shotgun (JOJEFF MAGNUM 8371).
He is also charged with illegally possessing 23 live cartridges (rounds of ammunition) without a permit.
At No. 3b Iru Close in the Ikoyi neighbourhood of Lagos, the defendant committed the crimes on June 15, 2023.
