It would be recalled that plans have been concluded to hold local council elections in all the six area councils of the FCT on Saturday.

In a statement signed by the Command Spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh, the Command revealed that it has deployed personnel to all nooks and crannies of the capital city in order to enforce the movement restrictions.
This is even as the CP in charge of the FCT Command, Sunday Babaji, has expressed confidence in the already emplaced security measures and called on the FCT residents to turn out to exercise their voting rights without the fear of harassment or molestation.
He, however, noted that the restriction of movement only bears an exception for essential workers and students who were coincidentally scheduled to write a nationwide WAEC examination.
The CP, therefore, warned that any one found to have disobeyed the movement restriction order will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
“The restriction emplaced between the period of 12mid night – 4pm of the said date was put in place to enable the Police in a concerted effort with other sister agencies do due diligence in the discharge of their duties as touching ensuring a free and fair election thereby totally paralyzing any form of threat,” the statement said.
CP Babaji, therefore, called on all stakeholders in the election to remember the peace accord they signed and ensure that their actions and inactions do not clash with constituted guidelines.
