Mr Cui Jianchun, the People’s Republic of China’s Ambassador to Nigeria, has stated that the Chinese government is prepared to assist Nigeria in reducing poverty levels.
Cui made the remarks during the closing ceremony of the Nigeria-China Cultural Week and award ceremony on Tuesday in Abuja.
The event was part of a series of festivities planned to mark both nations’ national days on October 1.
On the occasion of China’s 72nd anniversary, Cui stated that his nation has seen strong development and achievements in areas such as the economy, innovation, poverty eradication, and the Belt and Road Initiative, among others.
According to the ambassador, one of his tactics as Ambassador for emulating China’s success in Nigeria is to send young Nigerians to China to study the system, get experience, and have an effect on the Nigerian system.

“On February 25, the Chinese President announced to the international community that severe poverty had been eradicated.
“I’d like to share with you that this is the Chinese Communist Party’s and the Chinese people’s greatest achievement.
“I’d want to share with you that we can accomplish this jointly because poverty reduction, eradication, and elimination need great leadership, which the Chinese President has demonstrated.
“How are we going to meet this challenging goal? We can observe that there are several project policies in place.
“The most essential component is that we engage the entire society in a collaborative effort to reduce poverty in rural regions.
“I am expecting that next year, following COVID-19, I will be able to conceive of a way to encourage young Nigerians to travel to China and learn from the Chinese side and get experience. If China can accomplish it, I believe Nigeria can as well.
“We can use China not just as an example, but also as a means of alleviating poverty. I believe that both countries must work together to eradicate poverty. You’re well aware that you’ve achieved your objective.
“I believe this is a significant event for the Nigerian people as well as the world community.
Cui praised China and Nigeria’s excellent bilateral relations over the last 50 years and urged a more holistic, comprehensive approach to building “our bilateral relations in another 50 years.”
