Chief of Naval Staff, other officers, Nigerian Navy hold retreat in Abuja

The Retreat was attended by the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Primary Staff Officers at NHQ, Flag Officers Commanding (FOCs) and commanders of surgeries foundations, while the remainder of the NN units, ships and institutions participated virtually through Zoom video conference connection.

The topic of the Retreat was “Effective Management for Nigerian Navy Operational Efficiency,” with a specific focus on the function of decision-making, comments mechanism and fund in engendering successful direction across all levels of control from the NN.

He noted the Retreat also advocated for the establishment of a ‘Fundamental Maritime Operations Course’ for junior officers and evaluations from the NN to enhance human capacity for the behaviour of successful maritime operations.

He added that Naval Headquarters also promised to standardise the gear holding of operations controls and foundations to enhance the combat readiness and logistics assistance from the NN for improved operational effectiveness.

He explained, “Commanders at different degrees were also tasked with leverage existing strategic partnerships to improve their operational readiness and keep continuous liaison with different stakeholders, such as host communities which are crucial to their actualisation of NN aims and objectives”.
