“It’s not a matter of presenting problems; it’s a matter of providing solutions: what can be done to address this security problem?” Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister, Lassina Zerbo, stated, “We will immediately discuss with the two ministers to see what concrete proposals are on the table to meet the needs of our military, gendarmerie, and paramilitary personnel on the ground.”
The new Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of addressing and lowering the cost of living in a country where unemployment has been a major issue for years.
“We will try to reduce the State’s cost of living and get closer to the people without putting the State in jeopardy, so sponsorships… I’m not sure what they’re called… We will make every effort to keep this to a minimum so that the ministers can focus on their work. We’re not saying ministers shouldn’t go to the field; they should, but only for essential issues and issues that affect their departments,” the new PM said.
