Buratai commissions NAOWA College Abuja

Commends President Buhari for support

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has commissioned the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), College, Kurudu, Abuja, while thanking President Muhammadu Buhari for his support to the Nigerian Army.

Speaking as the special Guest of Honour, Buratai also praised the Nigerian Army Engineers for constructing the school up to international standards.

“We must commend President Muhammad Buhari for not only appointing me, but giving us all necessary support.

“We want to thank Mr President for all the moral support we have been getting.

“I want to assure him that we would remain loyal in supporting the administration,” he said.

On the quality of work done at the school, the Chief of Army Staff said that he was impressed and the Nigerian Army Engineers have come of age.

“Our engineers have come of age and we have confidence on their capacity,” he stressed.

He assured NAOWA of the support of the Nigerian Army in ensuring their laudable projects see limelight.

“We will continued to support NAOWA to do more for the Nigerian Army and humanity.

He said that basic necessities including water and light is provided to the estate where retired officers are are to ensure they have better facilities.

“Though some officers and soldiers their children have passed school age ,but some are still in school. It is a laudable project and we appreciate the efforts of our officers and men.

“We had good support from the Air Force, Navy and Police Officers Wives Association here.

“As you are all aware, we have embarked on a number of projects some are new and some are old.

“This I assure you is a project of the Army and would continue to be executed as long as funds are available,” he assured.

Earlier in her welcome address, NAOWA President, Ummah Kusum Tukur Buratai, said that it was a special day and they thank God for providing resources for completion of the project.

She praised her husband, the Chief of Army Staff for his support.

She said NAOWA has established developmental projects all over the country.

NAOWA President added that in its bid to reduce maternal and child mortality in Abuja it would soon commission a specialist health centre in Abuja

She said that all NAOWA schools all over the country are being transformed to world class standards.

She reminded guests at the commissioning ceremony that education is the light that helps a child to see beyond the border and become great in the future.

She said the school will provide British and Nigerian curriculum, equipped bwith modern facilities to ensure exciting learning.

She commended former NAOWA National President, Mrs. Nnenna Ihejirika and immediate past president, Mrs. Feli Minimah for their contributions to the association as well as contributions to NAOWA education investments.

Major General J.S. Malu, Director Army Engineering Corps while delivering a brief on the school, said that it comprises of 18 Classrooms, 300-seatre assembly hall, laboratories, toilets as well as other facilities.
