Babafemi Ojudu, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, has denied that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will run for president in 2023.

According to some reports, Ojudu hinted at Osinbajo running for president in 2023.

However, Ojudu stated that such a statement is not his decision, and that only the Vice President would reveal whether or not he has presidential ambitions.

However, in a statement signed by him, Ojudu stated that Osinbajo was qualified to run for President in 2023.

“My attention has been drawn to a quotation attributed to me that is trending,” Ojudu says. Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President, will run for President in 2023, according to the report.

“First, let me reiterate that Prof. Osinbajo is currently fully focused on working as Vice President in the current administration to address all of Nigeria’s pressing issues and concerns, including finding effective and long-term solutions to the country’s security challenges and working to further boost the economy.” He has not made any statements about the elections in 2023.

“I was in Port Harcourt for a private meeting with some friends and interest groups when it happened. Someone asked me if Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would run for President in 2023 while we were at a meeting discussing politics, the economy, and a variety of other topics of public interest and the well-being of our country.

“My response to that question was that he is eminently qualified to run for office and that he will decide whether or not to do so at the appropriate time.”

“I acknowledge that Nigerians are eager to learn if Osinbajo will run. People ask me that question everywhere I go, and I’ve always tried to be cautious in my responses, whether to individuals or groups.

“While I appreciate and welcome the public’s affection for Vice President Osinbajo, I believe we should all give him the freedom to decide whether or not he is interested at the appropriate time.” It’s not something that will be discussed in a private meeting like the one I attended in Port Harcourt earlier this week.”
