President Muhammadu Buhari returned to Abuja on Friday from Kenya, contrary to plans to proceed from there to London for his medical check-up.
The president had been attending the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) at 50 in Nairobi, and was scheduled to see his London doctors afterwards.
While in Kenya, the president attended a Special Session to commemorate the United Nations’ body’s 50th anniversary.
“As we celebrate UNEP’s 50th anniversary, we laud UNEP’s efforts and encourage broader action to overcome climate change, biodiversity loss, rising pollution levels, and waste, which are three major crises threatening our planet,” Mr Buhari said.

In Nairobi, the president met with Ibrahim Thiaw, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
Mr Buhari directed cooperation between the Ministries of Environment, Water Resources, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Power to combat desertification during the meeting
