The House of Representatives saw a contentious debate on Wednesday as members argued over President Bola Tinubu’s proclamation of emergency in Rivers State.
Even before the session formally started, the lawmakers got into a heated argument.
An intense altercation between two female House members was captured in a video that went viral online.

Tinubu declared an emergency rule on Tuesday that suspends all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for six months, along with Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy Ngozi Odu. In the face of the state’s continuous political turmoil, the president defended the action as a necessary step to restore order.
Tinubu named retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas as the Administrator to lead the state during this time as part of the emergency procedures.
