As the Tai Solarin University of Education students battled with the host community in Ijagun and its surroundings, tension was apparent.
The neighbourhood has reportedly been abandoned since the violence on Sunday morning, according to our source.
The institution’s administration has declared the school closed and ordered the pupils to return home until calm has been restored.
While verifying the occurrence, the institution’s registrar, Dapo Oke, said that there had been an altercation between some pupils from the Imaweje village and the locals around the school.
The University Management now announces the closure of the University as a result of the recent altercation between students and members of the University Host Community in the early hours of today (Sunday), notably the Iwameje community, which caused the eruption of violence.
Parents and guardians are thus instructed to promptly bring their wards home, especially those who reside in and near Iwameje.
To restore peace and order in the troubled neighbourhood, law enforcement personnel are working together.
